Visit to Le Mans Sleaford Target, July 6, 2005.Several members of the Billinghay and District Twinning Association made a breathless return from a manic, non-stop visit to the world-famous 24-hour race around parts of the ancient city of Le Mans, France. Hosts were the families of the local twinning association and the five-day visit included night practice laps, tours of the pits and workshops, the traditional Pilot Carnival as well as the race start and climax to a spectacular finish by Team Audi. Although not a race fan, committee member Don Irvine said: “The total race ambience was unbelievably exciting and full of thrills and spills. I only wish I had done it earlier!” - ‘Unmissable’ - Nigel Kent, one of the original association members, said: “Five days of unmissable fun, although extremely hot. We persevered and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and in particular our hosts’ hospitality.” The long-established Association holds regular social events. To find out more, check the Contacts Page. |
